Flat-Pack
Furniture

Knock-down panel furniture — where the product is judged less on the panel than on whether the fittings, the instructions and the carton all survive to a customer’s living room.

Acceptance criteria

What we fix before the first panel is cut

These goods are bought to a drawing, a grade and a tolerance. That only works if the drawing is controlled, the features that actually matter are named, and the supplier can measure them repeatably.

Board and coreBoard type, density and core, with the emission class named.
Formaldehyde emissionTo the CARB Phase 2 / TSCA Title VI limit for US import.
Edge bandingMaterial, thickness, adhesive system and peel resistance.
Drilling accuracyHole position tolerance, because this is what makes assembly work or fail.
HardwareNamed brand-equivalent fittings, cycle-tested where they move.
InstructionsWritten and illustrated, then tested by someone who has not seen the product.
Carton and drop testPack design validated by drop test to a stated standard.

Every criterion above appears in the inspection report as a pass or a fail, with the measured value beside it and the gauge named. A first article is signed off before any bulk is produced.

Risk & compliance

What we screen before a sample is quoted

Formaldehyde compliance

TSCA Title VI applies to composite wood entering the US and the obligation sits with the importer. Panels are certified and verified, not assumed.

Assembly failure

A furniture return is almost never a broken panel — it is a hole 2mm out, a missing cam lock or an unreadable instruction. Drilling accuracy and kit completeness are inspection criteria, not afterthoughts.

Carton damage

Corners fail first and the whole unit is scrapped. Pack design is engineered and drop-tested before a container is booked.

Stability and tip-over

Case goods carry US tip-over requirements. Where the product is in scope, testing is arranged before shipping rather than after a recall.

Panel furniture in India is a machine business, not a carpentry one. The right supplier has a beam saw, an edge bander and a CNC — and the wrong one has skilled carpenters.
